Zotero is already running

L.S.,
I keep getting the error " Zotero is already running, but is not responding. The old Zotero process must be closed to open a new window." My uni-laptop had an update installed or something (windows) and since then, it is only ****. I have reinstalled Zotero already a few times, but nothing seems to help.

How to solve this?

Multiple times no effect. Zotero is not running according to the task manager in any case. I have deleted it completely including the browser plug ins and when I reïnstall (after a restart) I am getting the same message. Have tried it at least 8 times now.

I even tried it with Zotero 6 and the issue remains.

Zotero is built on top of Firefox code, so this should apply (substitute Zotero profile for Firefox profile) https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-already-running-not-responding

Yes, check for a parent.lock file in your Zotero profile folder and delete it if it’s there.
