Laufzeitfehler "53": Die Datei wurde nicht gefunden: user32

Hello,
after updating Zotero 6 to Zotero 7 I receive this error-notification in Word, when trying to add a new citation:

>>Laufzeitfehler "53":
Die Datei wurde nicht gefunden: user32<<

How can I fix this?
Thanks
Lena
  • Can you provide a Report ID? What's the full version of Word you're running?

You can also try deleting Zotero.dotm from the Word Startup folder, restarting Word to confirm that Zotero is gone completely, and then reinstalling the plugin.
  • Thank you for answering!

    The ID: 190426895.
    I use Word: 16.89.1 (24091630).

Yes, I've done this already many times. But Zotero never disappears in word.

If the Zotero tab never disappears from Word, you're not following the instructions correctly:
If changes you make to the Startup folder aren't taking effect, you can confirm that Word isn't set to a different location. […]
The plugin needs to disappear from Word for you to be sure that you're running a current version. You could easily get this error with an outdated Zotero.dotm file.
  • Okay, how can I find it?

It has been in here: /Users/lenamair/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content.localized/Startup.localized/Word
  • I've linked to instructions twice. Read the paragraph that begins with the sentence I quoted.
  • This path to find the StartUp Folder doesn't work: ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content/Startup/Word

I don't know what you mean by "doesn't work", but you're not engaging with what the page actually says after the part I quoted above. You should quote each sentence, confirm that you've done it, and say what happened.
  • I mean I can't open it.

If you're not going to take the time to say what you're actually doing, we're not going to be able to help you here. We obviously can't see your screen, and we don't know what you mean by "I can't open it". And you're still refusing to actually follow and respond to the instructions I linked to.

We're happy to help you here if you actually work with us, but if you're having trouble, you should ask someone tech-savvy to read the instructions we've linked to and help you out.
  • I'm sorry, I'm trying to get it.
I'm reading the instructions: (https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_manual_installation#locating_your_word_startup_folder) and it says to open the path ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content/Startup/Word. But when I do so in my Finder, it doesn't open. So I can't copy the Zotero.dotm in there.

If I understand your instructions wrong, I'm sorry.
