Notes are missing in Zotero 7

Hello there,

I have recently update from Zotero 6 to Zotero 7 on macOS 14.5 and all my notes are missing now. I am talking about the notes you were able to create just on the right side-bar (see screenshot)

With the new preview of the materials the notes on the right side-bar are disappeared.

Do you have any ideas how to find them or restore the notes? I have all my summaries of hundreds of sources in that former note section.

(You mean right, not left.)

It's no longer possible to create or edit those embedded attachment notes. You can convert existing ones to regular child notes on the parent item. Those are the main way notes are used in Zotero, and those are what you should use going forward.

Thank you for your quick response. How do I convert existing ones to regular child notes? Do I have to export and then import them again?

There's a button to do so below the existing (now read-only) note. For child attachments, it will say "Migrate to Item Note".

That's the parent item. You have to click the attachment item, where you actually see the note.

I can't open the embedded note, but "1" (in red circle) is indicating that the note is there. However there is no button to open it.

With right-clicking I exported the note and imported it again. I wonder if there is a button to open the note or to convert the existing note to a regular child note directly.

Those are your PDF annotations, not the embedded note. Expand the Attachment Info section in the right-hand pane.

If I scroll down, I still can't see or open the note. It is nowhere in the right-hand pane.

You need to expand Attachment Info.
