[New Feature] Underline in IOS beta for iPad as in Zotero 7

I’ve been using the new underline feature of Zotero 7 in my workflow with Obsidian together with the highlight capability. This two different kinds of annotations together with the numerous colors and the notes and sections captures allows for a huge and powerful annotating system.
While we wait until this underline feature is introduced into the standard version of Zotero, I was hoping to find it too in the IOS beta version for iPad, where the easy use of digital pens and writing makes it much more fluent, but there only highlights are allowed.
Thus I propose to add this feature in iPad, usual for other text and pdf readers, as it has been done for the Zotero 7 beta release.
  • Yes, the new tools will be coming to iOS too.
  • Thanks! It's good to know it will.
Is there any estimation on when could it be implemented?
  • I also came on the forum to request the underline feature on iPadOS. Happy to see it is coming. Any idea of time of release?
  • In the almost 17 years I've been using Zotero and reading this forum, I've never seen a date of release statement. There are too many unexpected crises that can arise when unanticipated changes occur to word processing software that must be immediately addressed and changes to publisher web pages that require modifying translators (and more) that must take time away from perfecting new features on multiple operating systems.
  • We've added support for underline and text annotations in the latest beta for iOS.
  • @dstillman I didn't see the latest beta release on testflight.
  • Sorry, I posted too soon. The beta still needs to be reviewed by Apple, but it should be available within the next half-day or so. It will be 1.0.41-291.
  • @dstillman Thank you so much! That's great!!
  • @dstillman Thanks a lot for the new functionality!

There is still one thing I would like to revise. I've been using the underlining feature in iPad and computer, and I'm almost sure that when I underline in one movement more than one line of text in iPad, the last word of the line and the first word of the following are joined in the generated "underline note" while if I do it in my computer the result is what it should be, each word appears as a different one.

One doesn't notice this if underline and highlight notes in Zotero are use only with visualization purposes, but in my case I export then to text notes and there you can find it really annoying.

    Thanks again for everything.
  • Hey @MarcoMolion, we are aware of this issue. We are working on a fix. Thanks for your feedback.
