ram leak (up to 50 gb in swap) on Mac OS

Dear all,

first of all thank you for the incredible work you put into Zotero.

Unfortunately, I have run into weird behavior. I don't know when it started since I have not been monitoring activity frequently. The other day I received a notification that I am running out of storage and it asked me to quit applications. I saw that Zotero was using excessive amounts of ram. I went into the forum and had a look and found that people had similar problems but not to the extend I am experiencing currently. Just today it happened again and I got the same notification (see attached). I tried to replicate but Zoteros storage reduced after restart. I was definitely pushing Zotero by having around 10 PDFs open, but 50 gb. Unfortunately I have to switch around between pdfs a lot. Now Zotero is at around 6 gb which is quite a bit but maybe fair considering I have 10 pdfs open.

The debug ID is: D1696574753

however I am not sure weather the log can give any insights since it did not capture the extrem jump in storage use.

I am very grateful for your support!

You have plugins enabled. You'll want to make sure you can reproduce this with all plugins disabled.

50 GB would be a memory leak, not memory usage.
  • Ok, i have disabled the plug ins. I guess I will wait now and see what happens. The storage usage is now between 2.5 and 4 GB is that considerable? Do you have any idea what might have caused the leak if it weren't the plugins?
