pdf files and scrolling problem

When a pdf file is open in Firefox, with the Zotero window covering part of it, attempts to scroll through Zotero items in the middle pane (using the mouse scroll wheel or the laptop touch pad) only results in scrolling the pdf document "underneath". It would be nice to change this behavior if possible.

    This is unlikely to be anything fixable in Zotero. It sounds like a bug in either Firefox or your PDF plugin.

    This problem can be fixed by selecting something within the Zotero window - but not just by clicking on a blank part of Zotero.
    It seems to me that when Firefox decides that the pdf window is active, Zotero no longer watches for scroll wheel input from the mouse.
