Correcting captured information in zotero

Some of the book references are in capitals and when I add the bibliography they contrast with my other references. Is there any way to correct them and prevent zotero from modifying them again when I update the document? Thanks
  • Correct the items in Zotero itself, not the document.
  • Thanks for the reply. I've done that several times but when i refresh the document, Zotero updates and changes my corrections putting the capitals again.
  • Which citation style?
Most likely, though, you're not actually updating the item connected to that citation (the connected item might be in a different library or deleted).
  • APA. Maybe it's a misunderstanding so I'll explain it. I meant that when I add a book in Zotero through ISBN sometimes the name, author and info appear in capitals, so when I add a cite in Word it appears in capitals in my document. I've tried to correct them in Zotero itself, but when i make a refresh they return to their original status in capitals because I assume that this is how they were originally captured to that ISBN

    .
  • Zotero citations definitely reflect manual changes you make in general (and items don't care how they were created originally).

When you use "Create Bibliography" from Zotero's right click menu (i.e. not the Word add-on), I assume the corrected item looks right?

If so, when you click Add/Edit citation while you're cursor is on a citation to Rottenberg 2020, and then click on the actual citation in the Red Quick format toolbar, can you take a screenshot. It would looks something like this:

  • Yes, in the red toolbar looks fine just as I corrected it but then when I let zotero sync my quotes it reverts to uppercase
  • A screenshot would be super helpful. I understand mostly what you're saying, but am still confused about several things and a screenshot would help clear those up. Also, did you confirm this looks right with Create Bibliography?
You could also check if you have the option to "Revert All" in the edit bibliography menu and if so use that.
  • @aliberesco if you restart Zotero and press Refresh in Zotero tab in Word does the change get reflected?
