Annotations incorrectly offset

Sometimes, my annotations made on a different device will not correctly sync to the new device, and annotations will appear on a completely different part of the page. The annotation text remains the same, but the highlight section of the pdf is in the wrong place. Image annotations are also offset. How can this be avoided?

    1) Try restarting in Troubleshooting Mode (Help → "Restart in Troubleshooting Mode…”), which temporarily disables all plugins. Is it having any effect?
    2) Does this happen with all PDF files or only specific ones?
    3) Are you using Zotero iOS app?

    1) Restarting in troubleshooting mode didn't work, unfortunately the annotations are still off
    2) It only seems to be certain PDFs. I've found that it's more likely to happen if I delete a single page from a pdf file (to remove a blank page or something) and that change doesn't sync correctly, because when I open up zotero on my other laptop the page isn't deleted and the annotations are irrevocably moved.
    3) I am using two laptops, one Windows, one Mac, and I'm using the Zotero desktop app for both. I have yet to use the iOS app.

    Yes, that is expected if the updated attachment isn't synced. The question is, why isn't it syncing? Do you see any errors indicating why the sync is failing? Can you provide a Debug ID for it happening?
