Volumes and Commentary Series

Hi there,

When I cite different volemes from a work I usually get the volume and page-number at the end. See e.g.

Eckhard J. Schnabel, Early Christian Mission (Downers Grove, IL; Leicester: InterVarsity Press, 2004), 1:1.
Eckhard J. Schnabel, Early Christian Mission (Downers Grove, IL; Leicester: InterVarsity Press, 2004), 2:1.

Somehow with a commentary in the series this does not work. See:

C. K. Barrett, A Critical and Exegetical Commentary on the Acts of the Apostles, vol. 1 of ICC (Edinburgh; London; New York: T&T Clark, 2004), 1.
C. K. Barrett, A Critical and Exegetical Commentary on the Acts of the Apostles, vol. 2 of ICC (Edinburgh; London; New York: T&T Clark, 2004), 1.

How can I manage zotero to have sth. like the following?

C. K. Barrett, A Critical and Exegetical Commentary on the Acts of the Apostles, ICC (Edinburgh; London; New York: T&T Clark, 2004), 2:903.

Thanks!
  • Which citation style and how are these entered differently from the examples above?
  • Hey Adam,

it's the SBLHL 2nd ed. Not sure what you mean by "how are these entered differently from the examples above?".
  • You say you "usually get the volume and page number" and then provide two examples. I'm wondering how the way you have those examples entered in Zotero differs from the commentary where you don't get the volume number
  • Oh, I see. The only difference is that in my example above Barrett's commentary appears in a series. Hence, in the rubric series we have "ICC" but with Schnabel's work this field is left blank. I hope this is understandable
  • Hey Adam, what could the problem and/or the fix be?
  • I wonder if you used the "volume" field the first time, and then the "series" field. Volume will show at the end with pages, but series will show with the series name.
