web API search for multiple authors

What is the correct form for searching for multiple authors and/or single authors with more than one name format?

For example,
Search: Jones, A. K., Jones, AK, Jones, A.K

and

Search: Jones, A.K AND Tims, P. K

This is for searching via the web api.

    Is it best to just limit the search to the last name? But even in this case, the search isn't returning any results for Jones AND Tims, even though I know that there are pubs with these authors in the Zotero library.
