Custom Column

On the list of items in a library, is there a way to add a column with our own text?

My goal is to add a tag, text, emoji or symbol column that tells me at a glance in the list the working status of each paper. For example a green circle for a paper I've already read and annotated, a red circle for a paper I haven't read yet, and a yellow one for a paper I'm currently reading.

I've messed around with the settings as much as I could but it appears I can only choose from attributes that are directly linked to the metadata of the papers.

    You can't add a custom column, but colored tags should be good for what you're trying to do.

    The absence of custom columns is a real shame. Colored tags can help in this case, when I am happy simply to see symbolic representation of a custom information in the tabular overview but what if I want to display more complicated information? What if I want to sort records by custom attribute? What if I want to export Zotero database and work with custom attributes in an external table? All of this is either impossible or very difficult to do. Custom columns would enable so many new user cases.
