Missing menu / menu anomalies?

There seem to be some menu anomalies in the latest release - 7.0.6 on MacOS:

1. Missing/empty menu (when in document view):

2. missing menu item:

cheers!
  • Sorry, didn't realise I needed to. The help menu isn't available in these cases (i.e. with a document open) but reverting to the library window enables it. So have made a Report ID: 2037852334

    MacOS Ventura 13.7
    Zotero 7.0.6

    HTH, cheers!
  • If you change the language to U.S. English in the General pane of the settings, does it work properly? (I'm not seeing this if I switch to your locale, though.)
  • No. It was on Automatic, I switched to "English" (there was no US English option), restarted, and still the same.
  • To be clear, this is in a separate document window. When viewing a document in the same window as the Library the menus appear correctly.
  • Does it work if you create a new new Zotero profile?
  • Yes, a new profile works better. Added 1 document to the new library, opened it in a new window and the menus appear correctly - only without the Help menu.
  • I have a lot of document windows open with a lot of memory being used...
  • Actually, now after switching back to my default profile, the menus are now appearing correctly. So temporary glitch perhaps...?
  • Something is likely corrupted in your original profile. The easiest option would be to just point the new profile at your original data directory from the Advanced settings. You might need to reconfigure some things (e.g., sync settings), but this will be fixed.

If you ZIP the original profile folder (which doesn't contain your actual data) and email it to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread, we may be able to figure out why this was happening.

You can then delete the old profile, including its files, from the Profile Manager, and you can delete the near-empty second data directory that was created for it in your home folder.
  • Ah, well, OK. In that case, you can just delete the new profile and its data directory.
  • Thanks for your help and suggestions. If it happens again I'll convert to the new profile and send in the original profile folder as you suggest. Cheers!
