zotero stopped working after a Ubuntu upgrade to 24.04.1

My zotero installation is not working now that I have done the upgrade to 24.04.1 from 22.04.1 LTS

any ideas appreciated

    If you installed Zotero from the official tarball, does running set_launcher_icon script help?

    also removed and redid the symbolic link command

    The default .desktop file should work on 24.04, and does for us, but if it's not working for you for some reason, you can just change Exec to the absolute path to zotero in your installation folder.

    But if you're on a Debian-based system, you can also just use zotero-deb.
