Constant reboot request

I downlaoded the recent 64 bit version on Sept 14 and last used the Zotero version from March 2023. Zotero will not function. the pop up window message states "Your computer must be restarted to compale a previous upgrade of Zotero. Do you want to reboot now?" but its a endless loop, I reboot time and time again. Furthermore I can't uninstall Zotero now either...I click uninstall from the "Installed apps page" and I get the popup message that says to reboot ...

    We've been trying to fix various causes of this, but apparently we haven't gotten all of them.

    Is this a Windows account with reduced permissions (i.e., where you're prompted to enter an administrator user and password)? Anything else unusual?

    Can you share screenshots of the C:\Program Files (x86)\Zotero and C:\Program Files\Zotero folderes on your computer?
  • This Windows account has all the permissions nothing unusal as far as I know
  • Could you please try right-clicking on the installer and selecting 'Run as Administrator'? It might ask you to enter the admin user's password. If this helps and Zotero installs correctly, please let us know.
  • I right clicked on the Zotero.exe file and selected “run as administrator”. Rebooted and same problem. Did not see any other installer file name.
  • I meant the installer you've downloaded from https://www.zotero.org/download/, most likely called "Zotero-7.0.5_x64_setup.exe"
  • Installed and rebooted by selecting yes and no. It now loads but I have forgotten how to use Zotero. I can’t seem to attach a citation I a word document either an existing or new one - perhaps now a user problem. Thx

    We are also experiencing this issue at our organisation.

    It appears that it was introduced to us in v7.0.5 which was installed on our devices on 12/9 (despite your logs saying this version was supposed to introduce a fix).

    We will try to the admin install but if you have any other suggestions in the meantime...

  • I have installed and deinstalled the application and Zotero connector a few times but cannot seem to make Zotero add citations either by the connector or manual.

    Not sure if it’s related to my earlier problem. I used Zotero extensively a few years ago but I have no idea what to do now. Any recommendations?
  • Ahhh. Problem appears to be solved. I maxed out on the allocated storage and it didn’t allow me to do anything. I deleted all my files. I did t see any other payment method other than credit card. Zotero should have a large message bar that displays error messages. Thanks for your help.
