Stylus and annotations -- annotate or scroll but not both

I appreciate the work that has gone into Zotero 7 and I am thrilled that there are more ways to annotate documents, especially webpage snapshots.
However, I noticed that it is now impossible to select some text with a stylus, right click (secondary button) and choose to annotate by highlighting or underlining. The functionality works fine with a mouse, but not with a stylus. In Zotero 6, a long press would enable the text selection mode; a long press no longer does anything. If one selects the tool, then it is bound to all actions of the stylus *and* touch input, so it's not like one could scroll the page while the stylus is bound to the highlighting tool either.
I've looked through the preferences/settings to see if there was something that would enable text selection with the stylus or differentiate between touch and stylus input but found nothing. Five minutes into Zotero 7, it's a huge annoyance to have to select the tool, highlight some text, deselect the tool, scroll a bit, reselect the tool, etc. Please fix this asap since it has introduced a lot of friction to annotating with a stylus.

^^ this can't be done with a stylus. (Also, the popup is misaligned.)

Sadly, I will have to downgrade back to Zotero 6 on my Microsoft Surface 8 running Windows 11.
