Can't Install Zotero word plugin

I am using Zotero v. 2.0b7.4, I just got a new computer at work and the network's antivirus software recognizes the Zotero plugins for Word as a virus. I could start a request to make an exception for the installation, but that means I have to wait for about a week or so and I am nearing a deadline!
Any ideas? Is there any way to download the file and then install it?

You can certainly download the file and install it - just use right-click and "save-as" to download the file instead of left-clicking to install it - it will be an .xpi file.
I believe you should be able to install it by dragging to FF - although I'd be surprised if your virus protection lets you do that.
Installing this manually without using FF is possible, too, I think, but less easily so. I don't think I could run you through it, though maybe Simon would be willing to - for that he'd know which word and which OS you're on, though.
  • LOL! I have to send that to my IT department!
I did try the "save as" option before I posted here, but it didn't work, not because of security issues, but because it couldn't find the files.
I am using Windows XP and Word 2007.
is the link - I just tested that you can download this. Or what do you mean with "couldn't find the files"?
  • It does work! At least here at home, will have to wait to try it tomorrow at the office, thank you!
  • Still not possible to install from work I get this message
    (loosely translated)
Firefox could not install file at:

    file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/LFM/Desktop/Zotero-WinWord-Plugin-3.0a3.xpi

because: not a correct installation pack

  • The file was likely corrupted during download. Clear your browser cache and try again, or download the XPI from a different browser and drag it into Firefox.
