How to Automatically Move Files to Linked Attachment Base Directory in Zotero 7?

Hello!

I am excited about the new Zotero 7. To be honest, I updated it as soon as I saw it was available. However, I was surprised to discover that ZotFile will no longer be supported.

Unfortunately, I rely heavily on the ability to link Zotero to files stored on my online storage (OneDrive). I noticed that Zotero 7 includes a setting under Settings > Advanced > Files and Folders > Linked Attachment Base Directory.

I was expecting to see an option, perhaps via a right-click, to convert attached files to links and move them directly and automatically to the Linked Attachment Base Directory. Is this feature not available, or am I missing something?

I have the same question - I saw a "new plugin" mentioned in this discussion forum for Zotero 7: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/107584/switching-stored-files-to-linked-files. I'm not sure what that plugin is, I'm not sure if I can tag @tim820 here.

The plugins that replicate Zotfile's automatic saving of files as linked attachments in Zotero 7 are zotmoov and attanger. You can use either one.

Zotero's Linked Attachment Base Directory setting only affects where Zotero *looks* for linked files. It has no effect on where they get stored. And a LABD setting is only really necessary if you have more than one computer and the path to the linked files is different on each computer.
