Help modifying citation style (APA)

I've tried to follow the process described, but have not had any success. Have been trying to modify the APA 7th ed (numeric, superscript) version as well as the (single-spaced bibliography) version because we use both.

I need to modify APA 7th with these changes:
1) For a long author list, limit author list to 6, followed by ellipsis & last author name, instead of the 20-name limit APA uses.
2) Replace the "https://doi.org" in bibliography entry with "doi: " (with a space after the colon)
3) Remove the doi hyperlink.

For example, instead of THIS:
Arneson, A., Haghani, A., Thompson, M. J., Pellegrini, M., Kwon, S. B., Vu, H., Maciejewski, E., Yao, M., Li, C. Z., Lu, A. T., Morselli, M., Rubbi, L., Barnes, B., Hansen, K. D., Zhou, W., Breeze, C. E., Ernst, J., & Horvath, S. (2022). A mammalian methylation array for profiling methylation levels at conserved sequences. Nature Communications, 13(1), 783. https://doi.org/10.1038/s41467-022-28355-z

I need THIS:
Arneson, A., Haghani, A., Thompson, M. J., Pellegrini, M., Kwon, S. B., Vu, H., ...Horvath, S. (2022). A mammalian methylation array for profiling methylation levels at conserved sequences. Nature Communications, 13(1), 783. doi: 10.1038/s41467-022-28355-z

I've only been able to do #2 above, BUT I'm unable to rename the style and save it and be able to reopen it to try and work on it again - it keeps reverting, even though I change the name and ID as instructed on the forum. I can save it, but when I add it and then open it, it's reverting to APA unedited. I'm obviously missing something, but I give up. Can someone help me with this, please?
