Adding Lookup Engines not possible

I cannot install any additional lookup engines. If I follow the instructions here:

https://www.zotero.org/support/locate

and drop the file with additional engines in the locate folder, the 'Manage Lookup Engines' icon just freezes. Adding individual new lookup engines does not work either. Is this just something that still needs to be ironed out?

    You mean that when you click the Locate button (arrow in a circle in the side navigation bar), Zotero freezes?

    First try Help -> Restart in Troubleshooting Mode..., and see if the issue still occurs. If it does, we'll need a Debug ID.

    Zotero is still fine. The actual button stops working: the drop-down menu just disappears and nothing happens when clicking the button.

    When I manually try to add an engine, I get an empty drop-down menu, and an empty 'Manage Lookup Enginess' window. After I restart Zotero, it restores the original setup with only Google Scholar as an option.
