Bibliography showing two versions of a paper as 'a' and 'b'
I've seen in the discussions that this sometimes happens, however none of the solutions I've seen work in my case.
In my draft (MS word), one of the papers I am citing is cited multiple times throughout the paper. There are no duplicates of this paper in my zotero library, that was the first thing I checked. But for some reason all instances of the citation in the text are given as 'name et al 2022b', I can't see a '2022a'. However, in the bibliography the same paper is recorded twice as 2022a and 2022b, so where is 2022a coming from?
I could unlink the citations, but I am still in the drafting process. I've used Alt+F9 to look at the metadata, and 2022a doesn't appear in a search of the document, except the bibliography of course).
I've also tried removing the citations of this paper and adding them again, only selecting the 'your library' version of the paper, still no luck.
I can think of two things to try: one is to open the metadata and delete all versions of the paper from the document and see if that helps, or failing that remove all visible citations, see if the bibliography updates or dissapears to see if there is a hidden citation somewhere, but as there is only one version of the paper in my library I don't expect this to help.
Any ideas?

I've just added a bit more info to Deleted Items on how to identify citations pointing at different items.
