Possible issue with syncing PDF annotations

I've annotated a PDF using Zotero on my desktop. This article is synced to an online library. The PDF in the online library correctly shows the annotation on the left panel, for example a text highlight (see snip), but the PDF text on the right is not highlighted (again, see snip). If I download the PDF from the online library, the downloaded document correctly shows the highlighted text.

What should I do to have the annotations show up in the text of the online version? Or is that just not possible?

    1) Does it happen with other PDF files as well?
    2) What happens if you add another highlight annotation to the same file using Web Library? Is it visible?

    I have no idea why, but now I can correctly see annotation in the online library as well (even though I did absolutely nothing since this post).
