Zotero problems citing and referencing bibliography correctly (APA7th)

edited August 7, 2024
Hello, community.

I have been having problems with my Zotero for months.

With my configuration correctly done (APA7th), Zotero does not paste the copied bibliography (Ctrl+Shift+C) nor the citation (Ctrl+Shift+A) correctly.

E.g.: instead of showing the citation "(Potter, 2021)" as it should, it shows "Potter, Digital Media Effects". The same applies to the bibliographic reference, which does not follow APA7th correctly.

Hopefully I won't have to reinstall Zotero, as the configuration and add-on adjustments I have had to make are numerous.

Thanks so much for commenting if this happens to you or if you have a possible solution!
  • Could you share a screenshot of the right panel for this item? Also, could you confirm that APA 7 is selected under Settings, Export, Quick Copy?

Don't wait for months and be frustrated. We're here to help. ;)

How come you want to do this via Copy/Paste?
Where are you using these citations? If it's a Word processor, then why not use the Word Addon?

Please also provide a screenshot of the item from within Zotero that you're trying to cite.

    Hello again.

Thank you very much for the very quick response and willingness to help.

I've been waiting, thinking it might be a bug in some update (although it didn't seem to have been updated).

I was recording a demo video and realised that the problem was in the "Export" tab. I don't understand why, but somewhere along the line it's gone out of configuration.

I wish I had asked you before I had to do the refrence list of my PhD thesis by hand because of this misconfiguration :')

Thank you very much! You are amazing. Have a wonderful week.
