Zotero 7: EPUB reader will hang while selecting text

I am trying to select text in the EPUB reader and the process is quite slow, after a few waiting, Zotero will give me the error like:

A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.

Script: resource://zotero/reader/reader.js:35774
  • As a first step, try paginated view (View menu -> Paginated) if you aren't already using it. That will generally be much faster for large EPUBs. (Switching might take a while; subsequent opens will be faster.)

If you continue to have issues with paginated view, please email the file to support@zotero.org and include a link to this thread. We'll take a look.
  • @AbeJellinek I don't want to use paginated view...
  • This is really annoying, can we have this fixed as soon as possible? Being able to read EPUB files in Zotero is a cool feature, but the hanging issue has forced me to quit using it...

    I am having a similar issue: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/468274

[EDIT]: I got the same script busy message for the first time a little bit ago, but the script was this one: resource://zotero/react-dom.js:24320

I also use and much preferring scrolling. So far, switching to paginated view is helping with my issue. It's still slower than in other docs, but hanging much less; in scrolling view sometimes the entire program hangs for whole seconds.
  • For me, even paginated view will cause the client to be freezed...
  • @scruel: We never received an email from you. Can you try again?

It seems the reader freezing issue already been resolved, but huge epub file will still cause the item tree to be freezed.

We only ever want Debug IDs here. We'll excerpt relevant portions as necessary. The output you posted doesn't show a problem.

And we'd really want to see an example file with which you're experiencing a problem.
