Cannot start Zotero on Mac with M2 processor

Error message when trying to run Zotero on Macbook Air with M2 processor running Sonoma 14.5:

There was an error starting Zotero.

You can report this problem in the Zotero Forums.

  • Zotero is getting a generic error when trying to read your database.

Have you used Zotero on this computer before? Did you transfer files from another computer?
  • 1. No, I don't think I have.
    2. Yes

    Thanks!
  • Thank you! I found and deleted the Zotero folder that was transferred and now can open Zotero!
  • OK, but note that that's your Zotero data directory, so you'd have an empty library after deleting that. But as long as all your data and files were online, you can just sync. Otherwise you'd want to just fix the problem with the transferred folder (probably file permissions, though that should generally be a different error message).
