Temporary solution to the ligatures issue: change the font, such as to Georgia

Thank you for creating such an excellent software; I am an absolute beginner, so my problem-reporting format might be incorrect. Please inform me of any issues.
I also encountered a ligature problem, as discussed in the following link:

https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/109922/built-in-pdf-reader-doesnt-recognize-ligatures

However, the suggested solution of converting the font to Georgia did not resolve my issue. Perhaps I am executing the process incorrectly.
Here is my command line:
ebook-convert 'test.epub' test.epub --extra-css="body { font-family: Arial; }"
ebook-convert test.epub test.pdf
Thank you immensely for your assistance.
  • I have completely understood; the issue lies with the EPUB. I manually removed other fonts to convert the EPUB into "Arial" font. Therefore, I would also like to inquire about how to convert the font to Arial in an EPUB directly via command line.
  • Could you email the EPUB with the ligature issue with support@zotero.org, with a link to this thread? (Sorry for the delay.)
