Help with Zotero Document Locking on Google Docs
Hello,
I've been trying to add/edit citations on Zotero, but I'm keep on getting an error saying, "The document citations are being edited by another Zotero user. Please try again later." Then it talks about my document being locked.
How do I fix this problem?

dstillmanedited June 27, 2024If this is a shared document, that may just mean what it says. If you're the only person editing it, something may have gone wrong on Google's end, and you can override the lock from that dialog.

Cyi1504So if I do override the lock in the shared document, will the document get affected in anyway?
-
dstillmanedited June 27, 2024You shouldn't override the lock if there's a possibility other people are editing citations in the document, or if you've opened the document in another tab and have been using Zotero there. If you're sure neither of those is the case, it's safe to do.

Cyi1504Okay, so as long as nobody else is editing the citations in the documents at the same moment I am editing, I should be ok?
-
dstillmanWell, in a large document, a Zotero operation can take a while (e.g., multiple minutes), but generally, yes. And if no one else is actually in the document, you're obviously fine.
-
Cyi1504Okay, thanks for the help.

Cyi1504I ran into a new problem. I went ahead and overrided the lock. When I tried adding citations, I saw my references at the end duplicate. Is there another underlying problem here?
