Zotero add/edit bibliography section does not work for Google Document

Hello! I am a Mac user. For two days, I have been having trouble getting the add/edit bibliography feature on Google Documents to work. I can add citations, but it doesn't add a bibliography.

I have reinstalled the app several times, cleaned my cookies, and restarted my computer, too. I am not sure how to fix this, and I am a graduate student heavily relying on this to finish my papers due today and trying not to freak out. Please help!

Is anyone else having this issue?
  • If the papers are due today, I'd move to LibreOffice or Word to finalize as described here: https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/moving_documents_between_word_processors (make sure you work with a copy of the document!)

Beyond that -- which citation style, what size document and does adding a bibliography work in a fresh test document?
  • It doesn't work on a fresh test document at all. :(
  • Meaning it doesn't work with a single citation in a new, empty document? That would be very unusual. Can you provide a Debug ID for that?
  • How do I find the debug ID?
  • I linked to instructions.
  • I have copied my work on a new document and tried it there, but it did not work. However, on a brand new Google Doc, I just tested it, and it worked.

OK, so for your existing document, you may just not be waiting long enough, or your document may be too big for Google Docs. We can debug this, but as adamsmith says, if you're in a rush you may have better luck moving the document to Word or LibreOffice by following the instructions linked above. We don't recommend Google Docs for very large documents — by its nature it's just less reliable.
  • If you want to debug it, we'd want to see a Debug ID for clicking Add/Edit Bibliography, after restarting Zotero.
