Multiple in-line citation styles

Hi

In my university they require different in-line citation styles depending on how a source is quoted.
1) source directly addressed "As seen in NAME (year)..."
2) source at the end of a section/sentence "sentence [NAME year]

Is there a way to achieve this with CSL and Zotero?
Our university has been using Citavi but is planning to make the switch to Zotero. Citavi has a quick option to disable () around the year. I can achieve the same in Zotero with editing the entry manually but that disables automatic updates when the entry is changed in Zotero.

Thanks in advance

Don't edit manually. See "Narrative Citations with Omit Author" here:

    https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_usage#customizing_cites

(We'll be offering a way to do this without manually typing the author's name in a future version.)
  • If the () vs [] is an actual difference, though, I don't think we'd be able to do that?

the omit feature is exactly what I am looking for. The documentation says to click the 'omit Author' check box but all I can see is 'suppress author' as shown in the section 'Page and Other Locators' further up. I also don't see an option like that in the 'classic view'. Am I missing it somewhere?
I'm using the Zotero 7 beta btw.

ah okay sorry I misunderstood that section. I get it now. The check box is now called 'suppress author' and it simply just leaves out the author's name. So you'd still have to write the name yourself for a correct narrative citation.
Having a narrative check box would be nice =)

"Omit Author" is the current wording. You shouldn't be seeing "Suppress Author" in a current version of Zotero.
