How to create a bibliography with the full library

Hey there, everyone!

First of all, sorry if this has been covered elsewhere; I have tried looking for threads opened by people with the same problem and I haven't found a solution.

I started using Zotero for my PhD, and throughout this time I have been adding a really comprehensive bibliography of all the sources I've worked with, annotated, referenced, etc, and I have classified all these into different collections, namely "Psychology and Psychiatry", "Sociology", etc. Now, I would like to create a bibliography from my whole library, but when I click on "My Library" are sync, new collection, new saved search, and export library.

Of course, I could simply create a bibliography from every single collection and paste them together in word, and then use "sort" to rearrange them alphabetically. The problem is that many of the works are pasted with the author position reading simply "-------" because there are several works by the same author, and when I use sort all of those works by different authors are placed at the beginning as if they were anonymous.

Is there a way to create a bibliography from the WHOLE library, or a way to prevent Zotero from substituting author names for "------" in the bibliogeaphy when there's more than one entry for a given author?

Many thanks
  • 1. Bibliography for the whole library: Click on "My Library", select all (ctrl+a), then right-click --> Create bibliography
    2. Style without author substitute -- only a very few styles do this, if you want Chicago without it, see https://www.zotero.org/styles?q=id:chicago-fullnote-bibliography-no-em-dash
    or https://www.zotero.org/styles?q=id:chicago-author-date-no-em-dash

    Hey there, adamsmith!

Thanks for the help! For some reason, the command ctrl+a does nothing in my Zotero programme (might it be limited to some version of Zotero or specific operative systems?), but I think the styles without the em-dash for the authors should resolve my problem, since using that I should now be able to, in Word, simply copy the bibliographies from my 6 different collections and use the sort tool without making a mess of it :)

    Many thanks!

E: Ok nevermind I'm apparently a sillier goose than I thought and I was trying to "select all" on the left hand side of the window, where the breakdown of collections is... But I hadn't realised that when I click on "My library", all of the entries appear in one single list in the middle and I can simply select all of those and use create bibliography... Oh well haha

    Many thanks again! :)
