Zotero beta (April 13 2024) will not start / with solution
Right after I installed the update to Zotero beta (April 13th), Zotero refused to start on my PC. It worked fine on my Mac...
TL;DR - I had to set Windows 8 Compatibility mode to make it work. (Yes, eight.)
Now it seems to be OK but this was never the case before...

Now it seems to be OK but this was never the case before...
Double clicked on program icon in Explorer, briefly flashes, then nothing. Repeatable.
No errors, no messages. No proprietary security software installed. No VPN running.
It was on an enterprise laptop: Asked IT support to investigate. They reproduced the problem, could not fix with elevated privileges (which has never been required before).
Uninstalled, reinstalled from Zotero repository with elevated privileges (also never required before), no change.
No console log messages in Event Viewer.
