Chrome Extension for Zotero no longer connecting

Hi. Had numerous problems after a WIndows and Chrome browser update, no idea if they are are the cause or not. Using Windows 11, Zotero is fully up to date.
Firstly, all the styles have disappeared fro mthe Style Manager window. I found out when I tried to add the citations to my thesis using ODF scan and it wouldn't work. I followed the guides to reset styles and the translators, but this did not work.
Tried adding in my uni's style (University of Wolverhampton) but it gave an error and would not add it.
Tried deleting the styles and translators folders (renamed them actually) but no luck either. Disabled the add-ins restarted, reenabled but no luck.
Checked the database integrity, no errors - but then I noticed a little red exclaimation icon in the top right of the screen and it reported a malformed database file error. Read the online help again.
Replaced the entire Zotero data folder from a known good backup. Red icon gone.
Still no styles though even after reseting styles and translators again. Trying to add a style still does not work - now when I click on the hyperlink the window just disappears.
Then I found another issue - clicking Cite and then Refman from Google Scholar does not add the citation like it usually does, instead I get the following error: This item could not be saved because Zotero is not open or is unreachable. Please open Zotero and try again.
The 127.0.0.1 ping page says that Zotero is running though... and it will however add a Snapshot, that works fine.
Any advice much appreciated because obviously I can't get any of my references into my documents and I can't add any new ones... thanks.
  • Can you provide a Report ID to start?
  • I think I have found the problem - it seems to be some sort of file sharing issue after upgrading my NAS rather than anything Zotero related. It does not report any errors, it can access the files but just does not work. Copying the files and working locally has got everything functioning properly again.

    Thanks for your fast response.
