I created a document with footnotes on Word 2023. Something odd happened that I never experienced before. All my footnotes disappeared. I thought I lost them, but then somehow, a separate window popped up at the bottom of the document with all the footnotes. I was about to start re-doing all the footnotes all over again because I thought I lost them permanently, but was lucky that the window with the footnotes appeared. I don't know what I did to make the footnotes appear. The footnotes are not in the document itself as they have always been in all my previous documents. I just thought that this is a change in the newest update version or something. I have 6.0.36.

My question is: How can I get the footnotes to go onto the document? I don't want them to be in a separate window. I want them to be on the document so when I print it out, the footnotes will be there too.
