Zotero erased footnote's modification Even if Click Yes. ID 42125009
Report ID: 42125009
Hi, I needed to make changes in footnotes which were not possible to make directly in Zotero. When I wanted to add another citation via the Zotero plugin, it started revising all changed footnotes and gave the following message:
["You have modified this citation since Zotero generated it. Do you want to keep your modifications and prevent future updates?
Clicking "Yes" will prevent Zotero from updating this citation if you add additional citations, switch styles, or modify the item to which it refers. Clicking "No" will erase your changes."]
I want to keep my changes and prevent them from being updated. However, when I click YES the footnotes are still being changed to the original.
Effectively, clicking YES and NO generates the exact same results.
How to stop this from happening? The forced change to the original footnote makes revising my manuscript impossible.
My edition is: Zotero-7.0.0-beta.68
While Yes should preserve your edits, making modifications directly to the citations in the document is error-prone and should almost always be avoided. What change did you have to make directly?
You can make final edits in a copy of the document after using Unlink Citations.
If you send an excerpt of the document where you can reproduce this to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread, we can try to see why Yes isn't working properly, but you shouldn't wait for that for your current problem.
I avoid modifying the grey highlight generated citation now.
Thank you again for helping!
Thank you!
