I have the same problem for my thesis. I even deleted everything and saved it, and it is still not allowing me to cite anything...
I have tried all the tips mentioned in the troubleshooting, and nothing works.
It seems that all the documents I have saved have the same problem. However, if I create a new document, there I can cite things. And even after saving it....
I am working form my company PC, I do not know if that could be an issue...
