in-text citation not working

I have closed and opened Zotero but over the weeks I've noticed that just simply adding or editing a citation is very slow and especially leads to many issues such as: Word document closing, the citation having a dotted under line, the bibliography continuing to disappear.

Is there a new version I need to download? Any other suggestion?

For context, the Word document is 60K words, and I use a Mac. Thanks!

    the dotted underline is what you'd expect to see with automatic updating of citations disabled, which you should have on Mac, so that'd just be expected. Zotero 7 (in beta) would also be a bit faster, especially if you have a silicone Mac.

    Generally the recommendation is to avoid book-length files with Zotero and Word for Mac. My understanding is they're working on faster integration, but until then you can either work in chapters/sections (and then assemble at the end) or use LibreOffice or Windows.
