Hi @dstillman - thanks for your answer :)

Do you know how I can prevent PDFs being automatically imported when I use the Zotero web plugin to download a citation? (so I don't have to manually delete them after).

In Zotero General preferences, turn off "Automatically attach associated PDFs and other files when saving items":

Great, thanks! Do I also need to turn off the other PDF-related options under 'file handling' which are:

- 'automatically retrieve metadata for PDFs'

-'automatically rename attachment files use parent metadata'

No need to change them - they don't apply in your case.
