Issue syncing Zotero file attachments with iPad app + One Drive
I have an established library on my desktop Zotero app (Mac iOS) and am trying to access the PDF attachments on my iPad. I am not able to open either stored files or linked files within the Zotero iPad app.
When I try to open the PDF on my iPad, I get the following Error message "The attached file is not available in the online library. Please check that the file has synced on the device where it was added".
I'm aware that Zotero has a storage limit, so I am trying to use OneDrive to navigate this (as recommended by my uni). I have downloaded the Zotfile add-on and have selected the same OneDrive location in both the "Source Folder for Attaching New Files" and "Location of Files on Tablet".
I have converted all linked files in my library to stored files, and I have done the "Rename and Move" action. I have also done the "Send to Tablet" move. I have checked my One Drive folder, and all the relevant files are there.
I have followed the steps on this page https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/files_not_syncing
Can anyone help point me in the right direction? Have I missed a step, or am I simply misunderstanding the capabilities of using Zotero with iPad? I have been trawling forums and trying to follow advice given to others, but feel like I am going round in circles.

Thanks in advance.

Zotfile has the Send to Tablet workaround for linked files which works under Zotero v6, but Zotfile is not being migrated to Zotero v7, currently in beta. The several plugins that will replicate most of Zotfile's linked-file functionality under v7 are not planning to support Send to Tablet.

So Zotfile's Send to Tablet is soon not going to be viable anymore as things stand. So you are better off exploring the standard stored-file Zotero approach to tablet use, at least for the PDFs you need to access within Zotero on tablet (possible alternative workflows can be explored once you have the standard one working). You do not need *all* your PDFs in local Zotero storage and synced online (and from there to iOS) if your online file storage quota is limited (300 mb free file storage; free data storage is unlimited). Also, you can of course have *linked* PDFs accessible outside of Zotero on iOS (in an external PDF reader) via your self-managed cloud-mirrored folder (you just won't be able to see Zotero's PDF annotations, which are stored in its database rather than in the PDF ... unless exported/imported).
For the PDF files that you now have in local Zotero storage on your computer (that is, no chain-link icon on the PDF in the main library pane that would signify a linked file), the message you quoted about such a PDF file not being synced to online means what it says. There is full support available here from the developers for the standard Zotero workflow, so as the devs always say for such issues, post here the steps you followed in your own words, along with what happened at each stage. They have to be able to see exactly what you've done in order to point you in the correct direction. ;)
