reference discontinuous

When clicking on Add/Edit Bibliography, references that did not appear in the main text are included in the bibliography. Even after deleting the bibliography and regenerating it, articles not present in the main text still appear. Upon removing these articles from the bibliography and clicking refresh, the numbering becomes discontinuous.

These references are probably somewhere in the text, but they could be hidden depending on how the document has been edited in the past. To reveal all in-text Zotero references, you can use these instructions https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/word_field_codes

With this you should be able to find the exact location of these references. Delete the field codes and they will go away for good.
