Best approach for syncing library to restored computer

Hello,

I have been using a backup computer while mine was in the shop. I'm now at the stage of restoring my primary computer from a backup, but will be doing so without any applications.

So, I will be installing Zotero fresh. However, the Zotero library will already be on the computer. But, in the meantime, on my backup computer, I've edited PDF annotations in Zotero and also added new items. I have Zotero Sync and have my database and files synced.

My question is whether I should delete the entire Zotero folder on my primary computer before installing Zotero and then use sync to "bring it down" fresh? Or do I let it detect the library and then Sync and hope it catches all the changes?

I'm sure there are some preferences and other files about on my primary computer leftover, even though the restore didn't include applications.

If I haven't explained this well, please let me know how to best clarify!

Thank you so much for any input!
  • You can just sync. The way to think about sync is that it gets the most up to date version of every item onto every synced instance
  • Thank you @adamsmith Is there any way to sync my preferences and extensions too? Like I have Zutillo with keyboard shortcuts and it would be nice to not have to enter those all manually again.
