Sorry if I misunderstood, but you can simply right click on the pdf from Zotero, choose "Show file" to navigate to its location on your computer. You can then create a shortcut to open this file directly from any place on your computer. You can also use plug-ins to add options to Zotero when you right click an item to open pdf directly in an external viewer (even if you default choice is zotero reader). Still, you need to be careful that "editing PDFs in an external editor can break annotations made in Zotero's reader"

I found a way to do it using the add-on zutilo, it allows saving a link to be able to directly open the file in zotero, for example, you create a link like this: zotero://select/groups/2185658886/items/PW3MRRY2 open it in your browser as a hyperlink and it automatically opens in zotero. https://github.com/wshanks/Zutilo
