Suggestion: a quick way to transform a child note into a standalone note

It would be great to have the ability to easily convert a Child Note into a Standalone Note.

    There should be a context-menu option for this for accessibility, but you can just drag a child note out of the parent to make it a standalone note.

    That is what I tried to do and could not. I tried to drag a child note to a collection, but no collection would 'accept' it.

    You can only move top level items to a collection. So you need to make the child note a standalone note before you can move it to a collection.
    To do that, drag and drop the child note to the center pane between two items (you will see a grey line appear before dropping).
