Many PDFs not locatable

For the past month about 1/2 of my PDFs are not locatable when they had been locatable previously. The "locate" folders are empty. I work on a Mac. I have tried re-syncing and reseting the sync history.

Can anyone help?

    See Files Not Syncing. You likely added the files on another computer, and they haven't synced because you were at your storage quota. Now that you have more storage space, you'll need to sync the computer where they exist so that they transfer to the online library and your other devices.

    Files wouldn't go missing on a computer where they existed previously unless they were deleted outside of Zotero, but that's almost certainly not what happened.
