BUG After adding citation, main window is hidden #76

edited November 17, 2023
What happens:

Editing a document in Google Docs. Google Docs and Zotero main window are in different desktops in MacOS. Zotero Connector is authenticated with Google Docs.
Add a citation to document with hotkey. The citation is added successfully.
Change to desktop which contained Zotero main window, it is gone. The window is hidden. It is not visible on this or any other desktop.
Experience confusion and mental overhead as I start thinking about how to find Zotero again

Expected behaviour:

Add a citation to document
Move to desktop where Zotero was displayed
Directly see & access Zotero main window

Versions:

MacOS 13.5 (22G74)
Zotero 6.0.30
Firefox 119.0.1 (64-bit)

  • Move to desktop with Zotero main window, it is gone
What do you mean by "it is gone"?
  • I edited the post to clarify.
  • Ok, I have just tested this. Unfortunately it's a weird behavior by macOS. Zotero Connector is opening another window for authentication with Google Docs, and if you have your browser maximized, it opens the window in the free desktop, but somehow that window doesn't actually appear on the top. You need to find it and authenticate with your account. Afterwards it should work as expected. Let us know if you see this in some other instance and how you reproduce it.
  • Hi adomasven,
If I'm understanding you, that doesn't seem to be the behaviour I am describing. I am successfully adding citations into my document. Zotero Connector is authenticated with Google Docs, as far as I can tell. I have again updated the post to clarify the unexpected behaviour.
    Cheers,
    Leo
