Image citation with EXIF metadata

Hello,

I'm a librarian and I just received this question: is possible to create an item (and its citation) automatically from the image EXIF metadata?

I found this comment from 2010 but it has no answers and I think there is nothing new about this.

Yeah, nothing new, also unlikely to be added in the future. There's all sorts of garbage in EXIF, so this wouldn't actually have a high success rate. For PDFs, Zotero (either mostly or completely) ignores the XMP metadata (i.e. EXIF's equivalent) and searches the web instead.
If people really want to do this at scale, writing a separate tool that reads the EXIF and uses the Zotero API to create the item would be the way to go.
