Zotero Won't copy the letter 'i'

When copying from pdf's, the letter 'i' is replaced a question mark (?) or other symbol once pasted. This is consistent across all pdf's.

Any suggestions?

NB Apologies if this has been previously reported, but not the easiest of searches.
  • Can you link to a PDF where this happens and provide exact steps to reproduce?
  • This is one example:

    https://ntrs.nasa.gov/citations/20080000853

If I copy citation 14 on page 79, this is the text that comes out:

1998 Annual Book of ASTM Standards: Section 7: Textiles, Amercan Socety for Testng and Materals, Phladelpha, PA, 1998.

I just noticed the i in textiles is ok, and that is italicized in the source text.

Some sources are OK, but it is frequent enough that the issue has become extremely annoying. I am a new user to Zotero.

It's just a problem with the file. The same thing happens with Firefox, Chrome, Safari, macOS Preview, and PDF Expert. It doesn't happen in Acrobat, but that's the only program I'm seeing where it doesn't happen.

If you're seeing this with multiple files, they'd have to be files from the same source that share some glitch in their generation. This certainly wouldn't be any sort of general problem, and it's not a problem in Zotero specifically at all.
