Bugging word document
report-id: 777173780
Hello
a specific word document of mine bugs. In general, everything seems very slow. Trying to add or edit citations with the word plug-in often leads to no reaction or freezes while loading the new citation when using the following citation styles: Oxford University Press (note), Chicago Manual of Style 17th (full note). using the citation style "Past & Present", sometimes I can edit citations, and other times it freezes as well wihtout me seeing a clear pattern.
Trying to change the citation style with the word plugin also sometimes leads to Word and Zotero freezing or even Word crashing completely. After restarting both programs, and I can change citation styles.
I have tried alls steps from the debugging broken documents thread. (https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/debugging_broken_documents) The error still occurs until I completely clear the contents of the whole document.

jchj3001It is roughly 80 pages long with 300 footnotes.

adomasvenUnfortunately the Zotero Word for Mac integration is quite slow, especially with footnote citations, so what you're perceiving as freezing is most likely Zotero just working in the background. You can check to see if Zotero is working on your document by opening the Debug Output window via Help -> Debug Output Logging -> View Output. If Zotero is working on your document, you will see citation related lines being logged in that window.

jchj3001Hm, not entirely sure whether the lines I see are citation related to be honest in the debug output window. But it really takes ages. After I tried to add/edit citation it has now been freezed for 40 minutes. Are you sure it is still working in the background? is there any way of speeding things up or finding out what takes so long?

jchj3001fyi, it helped a lot to turn off the automatic actualization of citations.
