929563461 Empty window in Zotero in macOS

Hello,

I have been using Zotero for few days and after Zotero was in background for few hours and I tried to open it, I have been seeing a blank window all the time. I tried to reinstall Zotero, removing all files containing Zotero from /Library/Caches, Application Support, Preferences etc. but after reinstall I still cannot use Zotero. Even if I open Settings, I see another Settings blank window. I tried to use Zotero in browser instead but the extension does not work properly (I can't choose a folder where the link should be saved).
Could somebody assist me with the solution? I have no idea what I could do.
Kind regards
M
  • Are you using Dark Mode on your computer? Have you previously run any sort of third-party utility that affects Dark Mode?

Try closing Zotero, opening Terminal (via Spotlight), pasting in this command, and pressing Return:

    defaults delete -g NSRequiresAquaSystemAppearance
  • Thank you for your quick response!
Unfortunately, when I run your command I get the following output:
    2023-10-20 20:06:05.945 defaults[1251:11114]
    Domain (kCFPreferencesAnyApplication) not found.
    Defaults have not been changed.

I have changed dark mode to white mode in macOS, reseted my computer and Zotero is still not working.

Did you copy and paste the command or retype it? Make sure you're copying and pasting.

We're not aware of anything that causes this other than that setting having been set.

If you're still having trouble, you could try the Zotero 7 beta.
  • Of course I copy-pasted the command. I installed Zotero 7 beta and it works. I hope it won't crash again.
