The problem is that games are not simple software products. They have Creative Directors, Authors and other roles, that are not included in software, as well as the distinction between Publisher Companies and Developer Studios. These are important informations not included yet.

Granted, I've not seen a large number of articles where games are cited in scholarly literature but when I've seen this, the individual creative contributors aren't individually listed but only the publisher company. The context I've seen these citations are in articles and reports concerning the away-from-game behaviors of players and the speculation of game affects on undesirable real-world behaviors and attempts to assess cause and effect.
