After updating to MacOS Sonoma, Word cannot connect to Zotero

After updating to MacOS Sonoma, Word cannot connect to Zotero, and I've no idea how to solve this. I've been trying to restart and reinstall both, but it still doesn't work. Word always reminds me that " Word could not communicate with Zotero. Please ensure that Zotero is open and try again."

  • Can you provide a Debug ID for Zotero startup, using the "Restart with Logging Enabled…" option?
  • I have the same problem.
    My best guess is that the problem is related to (suddenly, I dont know why) with macros of the plug-in within Microsoft Word.
    Not solved on my side.

  • All steps recommended in the documentation done. [Word version 16.72, under Sonoma]
    I solved the problem doing this:
    - removing all the Zotero.dotm files found on my computer.
    - checkin where is the Word Startup folder in Word preferences -> Default folders.
    - Then copying the Zotero.dotm file found in Zotero.app/Contents/Resources/extensions/zoteroMacWordIntegration@zotero.org/install to that Word startup folder.
    - Restart Word, and all is good.
