Inclusion of Publication Year in the shortened Citation

Chicago 17th with shortened citations. There are some shortened citations that would include the publication year before the page numbers. So it appears as author, title, year, page numbers. This doesn't happen in all my citations. So I find it strange why there are citations that would include the year of publication. I hope I don't have to delete them all manually because I'm editing an entire monograph. Thank you.
  • The date would show if you have two otherwise identical short citations.
  • How can I correct it? It's supposed to be the same reference in all the same short titles. Is there a quick way to keep it author, title, and page numbers without having to go over the entire text to delete all the dates in the short title?
  • While it's possible in principle to remove the date in the style, this wouldn't seem like a solution here -- you currently have duplicate items cited in the text. Presumably you want to insert a bibliography, e.g.? That will also have duplicate items. If you use ibid, that won't work correctly, reliably, if you have duplicate items.

I'd recommend fixing this properly. If you still have the duplicates in the Zotero library, you can quickly fix it by merging. Otherwise, you'll need to spend more time on the document.
  • The duplicates are in another folder, Adam. I'm wondering why this does not happen to the other references, which also have duplicates in the other folder (which I created for the easy generation of my bibliography). Could you specify what you meant with duplicates in the library?

I'm fixing the footnotes, by the way. A specific citation from an author would include the year of publication in some instances, while others instances of the same reference would not have it. And this only happens with his books, which are different volumes in a collected works.
  • By the way, I checked the Duplicate Items folder in my Zotero library, but these references are not there. Though when I was writing my dissertation I created a duplicate of the reference so I could organize them per chapter and then for the bibliography. So I don't know how to merge them back if they are in different folders.

However, I've seen other references that have duplicates. And indeed, when I merged them, the footnotes were corrected. The year of publication disappeared.
